"We had been meaning to sort my father's property papers for two years. Every time we sat down to start, we ended up confused about which documents were current and which were copies of copies. The single-session programme covered exactly that category — the coordinator worked through it with me for two hours, produced a clear one-page summary, and pointed out two items I should bring to a lawyer. The session was calm, nothing was rushed, and I left knowing what I actually had."

"My mother lives in Skudai and I am in Johor Bahru. After my father passed, we realised neither of us had a clear picture of where everything was. Famora ran the two-household programme across both homes — six sessions over six weeks. What I valued was that the coordinator never gave us any view on what any document meant or what we should do. She sorted and indexed. At the end, both of us could find things without calling the other. The orientation document has been used more than I expected."

"We engaged the archive programme for my grandmother's home. Three rooms, four decades of paper, some of it in boxes that had not been opened since we moved house in 2004. The work took about fifteen sessions over four months. I had assumed it would feel intrusive having someone sort through all of that, but the coordinator was matter-of-fact about it — she was there to sort and label, not to read or comment. The digital index is on a family drive and any of my siblings can navigate it without asking me."

"We used the single-category session to go through identification and civil records. My wife and I had been keeping duplicates of almost everything for years without realising it. The gap list at the end told us we were actually missing two documents we thought we had. It took the coordinator two hours to produce more clarity than two years of saying we would do it ourselves."

"My brother and I were trying to consolidate records across our parents' home and a rental property we co-manage. It was a straightforward administrative problem, but we had not found a service that would handle just that — sorting and indexing — without attaching advice about what to do with the documents. Famora did exactly what we needed. The shared index is tidy and the naming convention is simple enough that we both use it consistently."

"The coordinator's manner during the sessions was one of the things I appreciated most. She was there to do a defined task and she stayed within it. When we came across documents that raised questions — an old agreement we were unsure about — she noted them in the register and said clearly that those were for a professional, not for her to comment on. That was exactly the right approach and it built trust from the first session."

Three household stories in detail

Case Study 01: Property records across two generations

Challenge

A family in Tampoi held property documents across three boxes — a parent's house, a lot sold in 2011, and a co-owned shophouse. No one in the family knew which set was current and which was historical. The boxes had been combined during a house move and never re-sorted.

What Famora did

Three sessions across the single-category programme (extended by two additional sessions under a separate agreement). Each property was given its own folder. Duplicates were separated and labelled as such. Historical documents were placed in an archive folder. A one-page summary described each property's folder and what it contained.

Result

The family identified two documents on their open-questions register that they subsequently brought to a solicitor. Three boxes became three folders. The family reports that what had felt like a substantial task took eleven hours of session time over four weeks.

Case Study 02: Two siblings, one parent's household

Challenge

An elderly parent in Johor Bahru had accumulated decades of personal records. Two adult children, living in separate households, each held some of the documents. Neither sibling had a complete picture, and questions came up repeatedly when dealing with utilities, insurance and health records.

What Famora did

The two-household programme ran across six weeks, with the coordinator meeting each household separately before producing a shared naming convention and a shared index on a family-owned drive. An orientation document explained the structure plainly and included a section for the parent to add to over time.

Result

Both siblings can now locate any category of document without calling the other. The open-questions register noted four items for professional follow-up. The family describes the work as removing a background anxiety that had been present for several years.

Case Study 03: Multi-generation archive, three homes

Challenge

A family held documents from three homes, the oldest dating to the 1970s. Some records were in Mandarin, some in English, some in Malay. Boxes were stored across a grandmother's house, a sibling's home, and a rented storage unit. No inventory existed.

What Famora did

Sixteen weeks, seventeen sessions. The coordinator inventoried all three locations, separated active from archive by decade and category, scanned the full set onto a family drive, and rebuilt the physical sets with consistent bilingual labels. A full orientation document was produced and three walkthrough sessions were held so three family members in different homes could each navigate the archive.

Result

More than 2,400 documents were processed. The open-questions register listed nine items for professional review. The storage unit was closed, saving the family a monthly rental. The digital archive is now accessible to five family members without any dependency on the coordinator.
